ABOUT THE MUSEUM

Its history and our volunteers

A Short History

Cae Dai 1950’s Museum is a volunteer-led museum dedicated to preserving the stories, people and objects that shaped life in the post austerity years of WW2.

The owner of the museum is Sparrow Harrison MBE and most days you will meet him on the reception desk. As a 200 contest amateur boxer, Sparrow founded the local boxing club. The boxing hall is attached to the museum and is filled with sports memorabilia. The gym is still used by Denbigh and District Amatuer boxing club.

With immersive displays and unique collections, every visit offers something different. The museum has grown into one of North Wales’ most fascinating visitor attractions.

The museum’s volunteers are always happy to help you and tell you about the exhibits.

Our Volunteers

The 1950’s Museum is run with the help of a dedicated team of volunteers who give their time, knowledge and enthusiasm to keep the museum open and bring its collections to life.

Our volunteers come from all different backgrounds and bring a wide range of skills, interests and stories with them. From welcoming visitors and sharing their knowledge to looking after displays, helping with events and keeping the museum and grounds looking their best, every volunteer makes a difference.

Volunteers are a big part of what makes the museum special. Many have been involved with the museum for years, while others have joined more recently. Some have a passion for cars, boxing, history or the 1950s, while others simply enjoy meeting people and being part of the local community.
